The common passion of the two founders - <strong>flying</strong> - brought them together and so the idea of their own perfume brand was born, which stands for transparency, creativity, and quality. Responsibility towards the environment and local producers is part of the DNA of URBAN SCENTS, by Marie &amp; Alexander.

The brand connects two cities: BERLIN &amp; PARIS, two people: MARIE &amp; ALEXANDER URBAN, and two passions: FLYING &amp; SCENT ART. The Berlin-based fragrance manufactory has been creating perfume creations full of emotional associations from exquisite raw materials from independent manufacturers since 2014. The fragrance artworks interpret people, spaces, and objects. Each individual fragrance contains 30 to 60 ingredients, which are created in Berlin and then mixed in Grasse, in France, with the perfume oils of the small and independent perfume manufactory Accords &amp; Parfums.

A decade of new beginnings, full of power and energy. The cityscape was characterized by elegant ladies and gentlemen, in double-breasted suits and hats, classically elegant, but also by the up-and-coming youth, wildly powerful, full of drive. Gravel perfumes capture this spirit. Distinctive and charismatic like founder Michael B. Knudsen (b. 1911), who traveled from Europe (Across the Ocean) to pursue his American dream (American Dream) and eventually created the first men's perfume in the U.S. (A Man's Cologne). Since the first bottle was sold in New York on 46th Street, each bottle is unique due to the addition of the gravel from the Hudson River NY.
<h3>How it all began</h3>
The start of a long success story began when Michael Knudsen, after finalizing the fragrance in 1957, wanted to give away the first three bottles ever made to an editor at NBC. He happened to pass by F. R. Tripler (est. 1886) on 46th Street at the corner of Madison Avenue. This store had been one of the most exclusive men's outfitters in Manhattan for generations. He wanted to offer his fragrance there, but the salespeople did not take him seriously. However, by chance, a buyer for fragrances and drugstore products was also standing there, who was enthusiastic about the fragrances - which ultimately made Gravel a permanent part of the assortment.
