"In 1960, Dior asked Paul Vacher to create a fragrance that has presence and strength, but which is supposed to be extremely refined. In 1963, Vacher created Diorling, a fragrance based entirely on the smell of leather. Vacher's genius was evident by choosing his first ingredients with the utmost care to create a fragrant bag that you can carry with him: a women's handbag, a very chic luxury bag, the leather of which is the one that carries it, can caress as softly as the fragrance can caress the neck of the one who wears it; a creamy, imaginary leather manufakt. Paul Vacher thought of a bag without seams, of stroking the air." Chandler Burr, DIOR, Les Parfums (2014)
