Gravel perfumes capture this spirit. Distinctive and charismatic like founder Michael B. Knudsen (b. 1911), who traveled from Europe (Across the Ocean) to pursue his American dream (American Dream) and eventually created the first men's perfume in the U.S. (A Man's Cologne). Since the first bottle was sold in New York on 46th Street, each bottle is unique due to the addition of the gravel from the Hudson River NY.
<h3>How it all began</h3>
The start of a long success story began when Michael Knudsen, after finalizing the fragrance in 1957, wanted to give away the first three bottles ever made to an editor at NBC. He happened to pass by F. R. Tripler (est. 1886) on 46th Street at the corner of Madison Avenue. This store had been one of the most exclusive men's outfitters in Manhattan for generations. He wanted to offer his fragrance there, but the salespeople did not take him seriously. Die Philosophy
Gegründet wurde die Marke 2009 von Julien Sprecher, dessen Liebe zu Parfums von seinem Vater weitergegeben wurde. Parfums de Marly, eine High-End-Parfümerie-Marke, zaubert mit seinen "Signature"-Düften, die kurz, markant, direkt sind, einen traumhaften Zustand herbei. Auch die Geschichte des Schlosses und der Gärten von Versailles, in deren Nähe er geboren und aufgewachsen ist, hat ihn unweigerlich beeinflusst.  Die kreativen Parfums De Marly drücken einen raffinierten und zeitgemäßen Lebensstil aus.
Die Inspiration
Das muss man sich einmal vor Augen führen, dass es damals in Versailles mehr als neunzigtausend Blumen und Pflanzen in den königlichen Gärten gab. Sie alle dienten der Herrlichkeit des „parfumierten Hofes“. Keiner konnte den französischen Parfümeuren das Wasser reichen, in dessen Zentrum ein absolutistischer König stand, der seine Räumlichkeiten jeden Tag mit anderen Kreationen desodorieren ließ. Selbst die Brunnen im Garten trugen parfümiertes Wasser. Im Lustschloss Marly, so beschloss der König, sollte sich um das Wohl der reinsten Pferde gekümmert werden. Die Pferdezucht des Königs war so berühmt, dass der Tunesische König ihm acht Araber schenkte. Diese wurden mit prächtigen, großen und starken europäischen Pferden gekreuzt. Sie waren das Vorbild für die berühmten Skulpturen auf der Champs Elysee.
